Counselling provides the opportunity
to have a non-judgemental, and safe, confidential therapeutic relationship while you explore issues, emotions and
situations which are preventing you from feeling able to cope.
These feelings may be brought on by
events that you can identify such as bereavement, relationship worries, or stress. However, many people can find
themselves suffering from anxiety and depressive feelings for which they cannot identify a cause. In these
situations the temptation is to blame oneself and to wonder why you can’t just “snap out of it” which only makes
you feel worse.
Counselling provides you with a way
Change your feelings,
and gain relief from distressing emotions.
To increase self-esteem
To gain greater
understanding both of yourself and of problems to be dealt with.
To regain the ability to
cope with life, and be able to work and function effectively again.
To improve your
relationships with others.

Every client will have unique needs
and wants from their counselling. Some may want a few time-limited CBT sessions to deal with a specific problem.
Others may prefer to start counselling with an open ended approach, unsure of the source of their distress but
feeling that they can’t go on without addressing it. Whichever approach you choose, we will regularly review your
progress to ensure you are getting what you need and want from the counselling relationship.
